Mark Pingle

Professor Mark Pingle has been a member of the University of Nevada, Reno Department of Economics since 1990. He received his B.S. degree in economics from Southern Oregon State College in 1983. He received his M.A. in 1984 and Ph.D. in Economics in 1988, both from the University of Southern California.

Professor Pingle has published papers, books, and other writings in the areas of macroeconomics, behavioral economics, and experimental economics. His work has appeared in Economic Theory, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Optimal Control, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Socio-Economics, Journal of Economic Education, Journal of Economic Psychology, Macroeconomic Dynamics, Journal of Gambling Studies, Journal of Socio-Economics, Empirical Economics, Global Business and Economic Review, and Nevada Historical Society Quarterly.

Professor Pingle is an Associate Editor for two Journals: Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and Journal of Socio-Economics. He recently served a term as President of the Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics. He also is heading up a new University of Nevada Reno effort to enhance economic development and improve education in Nevada through developing a culture of entrepreneurship in Nevada.

On the personal side, Professor Pingle grew up in a cattle ranching family in Southern Oregon, never thinking about being a professor of anything until his senior year in college. He has lifted more hay bales and picked up more sticks than most people have ever seen. He tied another player for the highest batting average on a state championship baseball team in high school, and pitched a no-hitter. He plays piano, guitar, and bass, enjoys writing songs, and enjoys singing with his wife and three girls.

Don Borwhat

Don Borwhat is President and CEO of Creative Human Resource Solutions, LLC, a Reno/Lake Tahoe based consulting firm. His twenty-five plus years of leadership and business experience in high tech, sales, manufacturing and service allows Don to implement transformational change by shaping positive attitudes and perspectives. He has consulted with many fortune 500 companies and governmental agencies.

Don's business career progressed from Human Resource Manager (HRM) for General Electric's (GE's) Power Generation Business to HRM for GE's Aircraft Engine Business as HRM. His employee involvement & empowerment programs and his ability to assess and coach key talent were recognized by Jack Welch, who promoted Don to Sr. Vice President of Human Resources. Don spent the next several years coaching and providing Jack with executive assessments on key employees.

Don left GE in 2002 and began consulting full time. His work as a motivational speaker, teacher, and coach has been referenced in the Wall Street Journal & several college text books. He received the prestigious Optimus Award of Workforce magazine for developing HR organizations into true business partners. He received President Clinton's Workforce 2000 award, has appeared on MSNBC, and has been featured in HR and other magazines In 2004, he was recognized by Intuit for developing their HR teams into business partners in his effort to help position Intuit's Payroll and Quickbooks businesses for success.

Fred Sibayan

Fred Sibayan is CEO and Chairman of the Board of Vortex Intellectual Property Solutions, Inc., a company providing solutions to companies that must manage, report and track their intellectual property, including Security Exchange Commission compliance. Fred was also President and Chief Executive Officer of VSL Networks, which provided in motion vehicular satellite products and services. He is the managing partner of Sibayan and Associates, LLC, which manages investments and offers consulting services. He was Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Vice President Strategic Relationships and Business Development, and co-founder of Exodus Communications, Inc., which manages data centers for marquee accounts, providing services and back-up. Exodus went public in 1998, offering its IPO under EXDS. Fred's business experience includes positions as CEO, President, Chairman of the Board, Board of Directors, Board of Advisors, Managing Partner, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Vice President Strategic Relationship, Vice President of Business Development, Director of Sales, and Contractor/Consultant. He served in the United States Marine Corps (1966 - 1970), and for his service received multiple decorations for meritorious service and valor. Fred received his bachelor's degree in business from San Jose State University.

Kerry Kolvet

Kerry is an Attorney at Drinkwater Law Office and focuses her practice in the areas of corporate/business law, intellectual property law, and non-profit/tax exempt entities. Kerry has helped many businesses during start-up, as well as providing counsel for any continuing business needs, and has assisted businesses in retaining and securing their intellectual property. She has overseen successful acquisitions, sales and mergers of businesses and worked closely with businesses to ensure successful business practices. Kerry also works with non-profit businesses to obtain non-profit status, implement necessary corporate governance rules and obtain tax-exempt status with the IRS.

Kerry is also a CPA. Her practice as a CPA focused on audit and attest services with Arthur Anderson LLP with a large variety of companies. Kerry graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. She also attended the College of William & Mary School of Law where she obtained her Juris Doctor.

Rod Hosilyk

Rod Hosilyk is a seasoned results-oriented marketing-driven executive with international experience in both large corporations and entrepreneurial ventures. Mr. Hosilyk began his corporate career in manufacturing companies holding positions in engineering, manufacturing, operations and senior management. After leaving BASF as a senior Vice President in 1980, he began his entrepreneurial career by founding and growing a number of companies. He's designed products for production in the US, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, China & South America, has successfully brought hundreds of products to market, and has created sales "channels" from scratch. He's raised venture capital and seed money, taken a company public, and done product licensing deals in Europe, Asia, Sweden and South America. Mr. Hosilyk is currently the Managing Director of Startup Growth Strategies Inc., a non-profit company dedicated to "Getting America back on its feet by promoting job growth through entrepreneurial ventures". He is also the Chairman of Universal CleanAir Technologies Inc. (UCTI) where the company has developed a technology for significantly & simultaneously reducing the major pollutants in diesel exhaust emissions. Mr. Hosilyk is an outside board member of two companies, and a lecturer on entrepreneurial venture development and marketing at Pepperdine University in the Graziadio School of Business Executive MBA Program, at San Diego University in their Executive MBA program, and at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) in their advanced studies group. Mr. Hosilyk also lectures on entrepreneurial ventures at various community groups and is currently developing a curriculum for an entrepreneurial minor that he'll be teaching at UNR.

Mr. Hosilyk received his engineering degrees (BSEE, BSME) from the University of Panama while serving in the military there.

Dan Oster

As a member of the Industrial Properties Group, Dan has participated in the sales and leasing of a wide variety of Industrial properties from 1,000 to 600,000 sqft. Dan's primary goal is to provide unsurpassed customer service to the clients he represents. Since 2004, Dan and his team have completed over 500 transactions valued in excess of $500,000,000. They currently represent 40 properties totaling 2.75 Million Sqft.

He is a founding partner and is currently the managing member of Reno's Largest Commercial Real Estate Firm.

Dan earned both a Bachelor of Science in Management and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he was also elected student body president while an undergraduate. Dan is past president of the Northern Nevada Roundtable President of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Nevada teaching an advanced seminar on Supply Chain Management.

Clients he has represented include: Institutional Landlords such as ProLogis, Panattoni Development, USAA and Bentall Kennedy; publicly traded companies such as Pfizer, ServiceMaster(TruGreen and Merry Maids) and Agrium and hundreds of privately owned small to large companies.
